Since the 19th century, there is an hospital in Romaneche-Thorins, at the extreme south of Burgundy. To pay for treatments, some of the patients occasionally gave away some vineyards to the hospital. After some years, it grow up to be a more than 6 ha estate. The average age of the vine is today 60 years and is located on prestigious parcels. COLLIN -BOURISSET has exclusive rights of this estate since 1926.

Grape variety Gamay Noir
Soil Pink granite & old aluvium soil
Vinification & Ageing Grapes harvested by hand only. Grapes are destemmed delicately in order to vinify with full berry. traditional, long fermentation, between 20 to 25 days. Partial ageing in oak barrels or in big oak vats.
Tasting notes This wine offers a beautiful red ruby colour with purple and brick red notes. A very expressive nose, developing aromas of soaked black fruits as blackberry and blueberry, of forest floor, licorice and then some cocoa bean notes. The palate is well-balanced with fine and silky tannins, and an amazing length on the finale.

Domaine Bourisset

Domaine Bourisset

In 1922, Louis Bourisset bought a 5 hectares vineyard just below the old windmill in the village of Romanèche-Thorins. The average age of the vines are 45 years. The vineyard is broken up in 16 plots that being a mix of soils.

Grape variety Gamay Noir
Soil Sandy. Stemming from the decomposition of pink granite. Bedrock is very close to the surface. Manganese at middle-hillside. A part of the vineyard is grass covered and the soil is worked every year for an in-depth rooting, allowing to enhance all the typicity of the terroir.
Vinification & Ageing Grapes harvested by hand and rigorously sorted out. Traditional vinification with submerged cap, long maceration of 12 days, to extract a maximum of colour and tannins. partial ageing in oak barrels, 6 to 8 months.
Tasting notes Very bright deep cherry colour. Floral (rose and peony) and red fruits (raspberry and blackberry) aromas. Elegant, long lenght.

Château La Vernalle

Château La Vernalle is located at the foot of Solutre rock. It is divided into three parcels: Le Clos, Au Vignerais and Les Pommards.

Grape variety Gamay Noir
Soil Limestone
Vinification & Ageing Grapes are crushed and juice extracted for fermentation at low, controlled temperatures, in stainless steel tanks. Malolatic fermentation, partial or complete, depending on natural grape acidity. Part of the harvest is aged on oak. Bottling at 6 to 8 months.
Tasting notes Ready to drink 3 months after botting, with 3 to 6 years storage potential. Typical green-gold colour. Elegant and attractive bouquet of hazelnuts and toasted almonds, of acacia and white lilies. Rich, smooth texture. Well defined Chardonnay character, with pure, fresh, complex flavours. Excellent balance and good lenght. In short, a superb white Burgundy.

Château Pérussel

Château Pérussel

The château was built in 1783 by the architect Violet Leduc. It was bought in 1902 by Jouffroy family. Vineyards were planted by the grand father, of the 3 generations ages. Originally, the château was called “Château du Donjon”. It has became “Château Pérussel” thanks to the name of the gardener’s house that lies on the pérussel plot. In front of the building lie the 2 guards of the château : majestic trees (wellington pine) several centuries old.

Soil Granit and schist soil, very rocky. 40 years old vine in hillsides, on south exposure.
Vinification & Ageing Grapes harvested exclusively by hand. Traditional Beaujolais wine making in whole bunches. Maceration for 8 days with pneumatic pressing for good extraction of colour and gamay aromas.
Tasting notes Fruity wine, with intense aromas of red berries (blackcurrant and raspberries). Good structure, round, melted tannins. Good lengh, a vinous and enjoyable finish.

Château de la Rigodière

Château de la Rigodière is a family estate since 1821. Odon Rigaud, born in Lyon and Archbishop of Rouen, was shipping lots of wines from this family estate with the excuse to increase strength of his bell ringers. He gave the name of a French expression “Boire à Tire-la-Rigaud” that means “to drink very much”. This estate is today manage and cultivated by Eric Roche de la Rigodière who had a previous career in the computer industry in Paris. He came back to the family estate by passion in 2000. Located in the middle of the Beaujolais Village, most of the 32 hectares are planted with Gamay Noir and Chardonnay. His latest project is to plant few hectares of Pinot Noir.

Grape variety Gamay Noir
Soil Limestone with few areas of granit.
Vinification & Ageing The winegrowing is very traditional with strong respect for environment: ploughing the soil, engrassing some vineyards who needs it, small yield production. Harvest is manual and allow a strict sorting of the best grapes.
Tasting notes Expressive aromas of spring fruits: strawberries, red berries, black currents with a white pepper touch. Mouth is round, fleshy, with silky tanins.

Domaine Maison Goyon

The estate Maison Goyon is located in Saint-Etienne des Ouillères. The castle tower was built in the XIIème century in oreder to protect the farmers and keep the dangers away. The 10 hectares estate is composed with 45 years old vineyards in average.

Grape variety Gamay Noir
Soil The wines estates is quite parcelled out. One part of the vineyards is located on a fault area called “le plateau des pierres”. The soil is rather clayey and gives firm and steady wines. Another part of the vineyards,planted on a schistose and sandy soil, gives soft, aromatic and fruity wines. A good diversification on the soils for a nice and well-balanced wine.
Vinification & Ageing Hand-picked grapes. Traditional Beaujolais vinification with immersed cap. Vatting: 6 to 8 days to extract a maximum of aromas.
Tasting Notes Bright ruby colour. Little red fruit aromas. Elegant and crispy in the mouth.

Domaine du Monnet

Le domaine du Monnet est une propriété familiale se transmettant de père en fils depuis 1800. Le domaine est situé sur la commune de Saint-Etienne-la-Varenne et s’étend sur 15 hectares de vignes plantées en coteaux.

Grape variety Gamay Noir
Soil Granitic and sandy.
Vinification & Ageing Hand haversted exclusively. Grappes entières déversées dans les cuves de fermentation, sans égrappage ni foulage. Fermentation traditionnelle d’une durée moyenne de 10 à 12 jours.
Tasting Notes Un bouquet de jeunes fruits rouges agrémentés de nuances de prunes et de pêches donne à ce vin une délicieuse rondeur et fraîcheur au palais.

Domaine de Reverdon

Domaine de Reverdon

The tower located at the entrance of the property is a reminder of the story that took place in this house: a husband that did not love his wife anymore built this tower for her. This allowed tehm to remain within the law of the time. Divorce was forbidden and husbands and wives should remain under the same roof their entire lives.

Grape variety Gamay Noir
Soil located on a slope facing south-west, the soil is composed of shallow granit and deep granit, traditional to Brouilly terroir.
Vinification & Ageing An old school wine making pracice with manual harvest, whole cluster fermentation for 15 days and smooth press. The wine is aged 9 months in concrete vats before bottling.
Tastings Notes The nose develop red fruits aromas such as strawberry, red currant and cherry. This is a round light bodied red wine round with soft tannins.

Domaine de la Croix Rouge

Domaine de la Croix Rouge

The Domaine de la Croix Rouge has been Granger famaily property for over 2 centuries in the hands of different generations. The vineyard stretches over 18 hectares on gobelet pruning.

Grapes variety Gamay Noir
Soil Clay soil with sedimentary rocks.
Vinification & Ageing Hand harvested exclusively. Whole clusters not destemmed. Traditional fermentation in tank with submerged cap for 10 to 12 days in order to extract the colour and the tannins.
Tastings Notes With a bright cherry colour, this wine has a superb black cherry and candied fruit nose topped by spicy notes. On the palate, smooth tannins and lenght give a nice body to this Juliénas.

Domaine de la Garodière

Domaine de la Garodière

The estate is at the foot of the Beaujolais Crus (Morgon, Fleurie and Chiroubles). Thevineyard, south east-facing, 15 hectares on the best climates of the appellation : The Côte du Py, The Charmes, The Grands Cras, Corcelette. The Domaine de la Garodière has been perpetuating its savoir faire for 4 generations now !

Grape variety Gamay Noir
Soil Granite and distorted schists. Volcanic rock, as the Côte du Py is an old volcano, now extinct. Traditional Beaujolais cultivation with a short bush-pruning. 40% of the vineyards are under grass and the average age is 50 years old.
Vinification & Ageing Hand-picked grapes. Traditional Beaujolais vinification with entire bunches during 10 days. This technique allows us to preserve all the intensity of the fruit.
Tasting Notes Deep dark red colour. Mature stone fruits aromas such as cherry, peach, apricot, plum. This wine is fleshy and its fullness in the mouth is very attractive. To drink it at its best, you can let it age several years.

Château de Loché

Built in 18th century and located inthe southern part of Burgundy, the Château de Loché was a former residence of Lords of Vinzelles.

Grape variety Chardonnay
Soil Limestone and chalk soil
Vinification & Ageing Vinified in the Burgundian style age on fine lees, partly in Franch oak barrels during 6 months.
Tasting Notes Greenish gold colour. This wine reveals aromas of white flowers and brioche notes with a very refreshing acidity. Our philosophy is to reflect the minerality and complexity of this terroir of Loché.
